These photographs were made to illustrate and celebrate the commitment  of individuals and organizations that work  tirelessly  and often invisibly , to improve the health of  people throughout the world. These images were made possible by the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, The Johns Hopkins Center for Communications Programs, The Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, The Rakai Health Sciences Project, Uganda, the Malaria Institute at Macha, Zambia and Marie Stopes International.

Today these organizations, in partnership with their host countries,  continue to address the health challenges  affecting  billions  of people worldwide  by investing in new research, technology, education, advocacy and  access  to health care.
